Edit: The horrible misspelling (right vs write) in the first sentence has been corrected. =)
I wanted to write a small post about what’s going on with Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 lately, and here it is. 🙂 Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any major news to write about since the announcements that they were both delayed, and I even stopped checking the sites every day like I was before. This last week I got caught up on everything that has happened the last month, and there were a few interesting things for each game.
Blizzard has been releasing tidbits of game info in the Game Guide section of the new Diablo 3 Community Site, but most of this information has already been known to anyone following Diabo 3 for a while. A lot of the info is also only tentative; it could change before release. I could create tentative builds, but so much could change before I get to play the game. (I still have not obtained a beta key.) A few days ago they also came out with a 15th Anniversary feature. It was entertaining, but everyone really just wants to play Diablo 3.
Blizzard has not made any updates on the release date either. They are still aiming for a Q1 2012 release which they have reiterated over and over. On the forums, players continually ask the same questions with the same answers being given. There are some rumors that the delay is because the Korean Games Rating Board is keeps delaying their decision about Diablo 3 or requesting more information from Blizzard. The idea is that Blizzard wants a worldwide launch with everyone having access to the real money auction house. This is all speculation though, and we will likely never know the full truth.
Torchlight 2 has had a little bit more news than Diablo 3 I would guess, but still not a whole lot. Runic Games Fansite (and I assume other fansites as well) got invited to a “Fan Event” at the Runic Games offices. In the weeks since one of their writers, Jerich, has been writing down all his impressions on a per class basis.
Other than that series of articles there has only been little bits of info about the small beta Runic Games is planning. It looks like it will be a closed beta just like Diablo 3’s beta but even smaller. There will be sign-ups of some kind, so maybe I have a better chance of getting in this beta (I doubt it). I imagine Runic Games Fansite and other popular members of the community will be getting automatic beta invites, but maybe the rest of us will have a small chance as well.
By the way, since I created this blog I have always wanted to make sure I check all spam comments to make sure they are legit. Well, the blog is starting to get a lot more spam comments than before. Maybe the spammers only now found my blog, but there seem to be about 10 spam comments per day. The site stats say there are about 100 views per day, and I am pretty sure these are 99% bot spammers.
I just don’t have time to go through all of the spam comments anymore to check if any are real comments. I will now be automatically deleting all spam the filter detects. So far the spam filter has been 100% correct, but there’s always a chance it incorrectly flags a good comment, and so I apologize in advance if this happens to anyone’s comments. (It should be very rare.)
