In this update, Tharcyn gained another couple levels. Unique items also started to drop again. Progress is a little slow, but that is to be expected as the levels increase.

Lost Fortress, Floor 28 (Shadow Vault, Lv64)
This floor had a surprising number of Specter monsters. They have high health and can teleport around. Their damage isn’t normally very high but very bursty. They tend to attack in flurries of three attacks then a long break followed by another flurry. The flurries don’t normally do that much damage since Tharcyn has high block chance. However, the damage can add up if all of the attacks hit and they all are critical hits. This happened in the the middle of this floor. Four Specters all got critical flurry attacks just as Frost Aura wore off. Tharcyn’s first death in this session.
After respawning and fighting his way through all of them, Tharcyn a double Specter champion group for character level 64 and fame level 50. In the last character update I wrote about how I was going with a more balanced attribute strategy. I put 3 points into Strength and 2 into Defense. This should be enough right now to keep my Defense at about the same level of protection. Later I might have to focus on Defense more. Treasure Hunter continued to get skill points increasing it to 5/10.
Treasure Hunter seemed to pay off right after that as Tharcyn got his first unique item drop in a long time. I got a few uniques from gambling but not any from uniques for awhile. I hope this is a sign of future luck. This particular unique seems like a good one for an Alchemist spellcaster build.
Back in town, the magic goods vendor had a Charm VI scroll that I bought. Tharcyn didn’t need it, but I thought it will be nice for another character later. I haven’t seen this particular scroll the whole game. I’m still looking for Dervish VI as a replacement for one of Tharcyn’s Elemental Protection spells.
Estherian Ruins, Floor 29 (Shadow Vault, Lv65)
This floor was pretty short. Early on Tharcyn faced three Thorned Hulk champions back to back. They were pretty easy to kill. It just took while, because they had such high health. After the third one bit the dust, Tharcyn gained another character level and fame level.
I put 3 attribute points in Strength and 2 points in Defense as I did with the previous level-up. I also continued putting skill points in Treasure Hunter, now at 7/10. Tharcyn again got lucky with Treasure Hunter, with another unique item dropping from a treasure chest in the dungeon. This looks like a really awesome Vanquisher item. Huge bonuses to ranged damage, higher missile range, plus good set bonuses. Now set bonuses can never be relied on. It’s just very hard to get more than one item from the same set in a single player game, but they are a nice bonus if even just a few pieces can be found.
Check back tomorrow for the next character update. I wish I could have played more today. It was a very busy day in real life.
